How it Works

You’ll have set meeting times with your cohort over video chat.

Susan Basterfield

Susan Basterfield's purpose is to end suffering in the workplace. She is a catalyst and convener, helping individuals and organizations worldwide experiment with new ways of working and being to actualize the workplace of the future. She brings over 25 years of work experience leading IT organizations - from startups to multinationals - and works across many sectors, industries, and countries.

Susan is based in New Zealand where she is Foundation Catalyst and Ambassador for Enspiral, a network at the forefront of new ways of working.

Kate Beecroft

Kate Beecroft is a member of Enspiral, a founder of the Golden Pandas livelihood pod and a founding partner of which develops software for participatory financial governance including

Kate is a facilitator and coach and has recently been working in Berlin, London and Barcelona, running workshops and trainings that draw together practitioners and theorists interested in self management and cooperative entrepreneurship.

She believes the principles of self management can help strengthen an emerging new economy where people create structures that serve them Talk to her about collectives, communities and cooperatives, literature and cooking.

Ian Borges

Ian Borges is Co-founder at LeadWise, Partner at Semco Style Institute and Lifestyle Strategist. Before that, Ian was Head of Digital and Communications for L’Oréal in Brazil, leading digital strategy, media investments and content marketing. In the past years, he left the corporate world to help individuals to live more meaningful lives with freedom and purpose. He believes we need to make work life awesome. Today, he travels the world as a Digital Nomad, transforming organizations and peoples realities through consulting, training, coaching, mentoring and life hacking.

The course

What is LeadWise Academy?

LeadWise Academy is a new type of learning experience. You’ll work with a small group of like-minded, motivated individuals through live sessions, group and personal work. It couples the best of in-person education (live interaction, accountability, strong connections), with the best of online education (the ability to connect with like-minded leaders from all over the world). We are inspired by the learning experiences created by u.Lab and altMBA.

Who is it for?

LeadWise Academy is for you if you want to up your leadership game and you want to change how work works. Maybe you’re a leader at a large company, an individual contributor at a startup, a freelancer, an entrepreneur, a consultant, a corporate escapee. Perhaps you work in tech, retail, finance, education, manufacturing or another industry. You might have five years of experience or 50. All levels of experience are welcome.

When does the program take place?

We are taking applications for the next cohort, which will take place 3 September - 5 October, 2018. We will organize another session by the end of the year. If you need more information, drop us a message here.

What is the time commitment?

You should expect to spend 10 hours a week for a total of 5 weeks on this program.

What will I get for my $ and time investment?

You’ll expand and deepen your understanding of self-management. You’ll learn to use the tools that provide the technological backbone to make self-management possible across different locations. You’ll create and deliver real world processes based on the tenets of self-organization. In addition, you’ll create relationships with like-minded leaders from around the world.

What is Self-Management?

Self-management is a never-ending process of learning – about the broader functions of an organization, our own capacity and confidence to step into roles, and collaboration and trust.

What is Enspiral?

Enspiral is a global network of entrepreneurs who utilize the principles of self-management to create systemic change via social impact entrepreneurialism. Based in New Zealand, its members have been practising open and participatory decision making, collaborative funding, and non-hierarchical ways of working for over six years.

There are no standard minimum requirements. Everyone’s experience is unique, and candidates are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
